In metallurgy, it is a steel alloy with a minimum of 10.5 % chromium content by mass. Stainless Steel 310 Plates is notable for its corrosion resistance, and it is widely used for food handling and cutlery among many other applications. It does not readily corrode, rust or stain with water as ordinary steel does.

However, SS 310 Sheets is not fully stain – proof in low – oxygen, high – salinity, or poor air – circulation environments. There are various features and surface finishes of this stainless steel to suit the environment the alloy must endure. SS 310 Plates is used where both the properties of steel and corrosion resistance are required.

It differs from carbon steel by the amount of chromium present, where unprotected steel rusts readily when exposed to air and moisture. In comparison, Alloy 310 Sheets contain sufficient chromium to undergo passivation, forming an inert film of chromium oxide on the surface.

310 Stainless Steel Sheets is considered resistant to potable water with up to about 200 mg / L chlorides at ambient temperatures, reducing to about 150 mg / L at 60 Degree C.
